ADP-635-35
Gold-plated adapter between a 6.35mm jack and a 3.5mm socket.
A 6.35mm TRS plug (two insulating bands) carries either unbalanced stereo (tip=left, ring=right, sleeve=ground) or balanced mono line-level (tip=hot, ring=cold, sleeve=ground) -- same physical wiring, different real meaning depending on the device. A 3.5mm TRS plug (one insulating band) carries tip=left, ring=right, sleeve=ground in the common unbalanced-stereo wiring.

From the published standard
The 3.5 mm and 6.35 mm jack sizes are electrically identical and differ only in size, which is why an adapter between them is just wire with no active electronics. Crackle when the plug is moved is worn contact at the ring, not a fault in the connected equipment.
