RF-BNC-M
A BNC connector terminated onto the end of a coaxial cable.
BNC connectors exist in two real, incompatible impedances: 50ohm (the RF/data standard) and 75ohm (the video/broadcast standard). Mixing them causes real signal loss from impedance-mismatch reflection, so a 50ohm BNC lead is not a safe swap for a 75ohm video run, or the reverse.

From the published standard
A BNC connector terminates the end of a coaxial cable with a quick bayonet lock. It preserves the cable's impedance (75 ohm for video) across the join, and any loose contact there creates a reflection that shows up as noise in the picture.
