Match the voltage the device asks for. More amps is safe, the wrong voltage is not. DC barrel connectors vary by product in two independent ways -- size (5.5mm/2.1mm is the common case, but 2.5mm ID and other sizes exist and are not interchangeable) and polarity (center-positive is dominant but center-negative genuinely exists) -- always match this exact adapter's own barrel to the device's port, never assume from another product.

The adapter sets the voltage and the device draws whatever current it needs. So the rule is: voltage must match exactly, while current only needs to be equal or higher. A 5 A supply feeding a device that draws 2 A is perfectly safe, and the reverse overheats the supply and fails. Polarity and plug size, 5.5 × 2.1 mm for example, must also match; reversed polarity destroys a device immediately.
