PLUG-RJ11
A phone connector crimped onto the end of a telephone line.
RJ11 (6P4C) has 6 wiring positions, but a single phone line in the common case only actually uses the center two (positions 3-4) -- the rest are reserved for multi-line wiring.

From the published standard
An RJ11 plug is crimped onto the end of a telephone line with a dedicated crimping tool. It has six contact positions, but an ordinary phone line uses only the middle pair — the outer positions are spare or carry a second line.
